Consumer Price Index (CPI) April 2019


The monthly change, April 2019 compared to March 2019, was an increase of 3.70 percent (+3.70 index points). This is compared to a monthly increase of 0.04 percent in the previous month of March 2019.The most significant monthly price increases were Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages (+7.48 percent). The increase was mainly the result of higher prices of Fruits and vegetables. Most of upwards contribution came from prices of Vegetables (+36.74%).

Over the twelve months to the month of April 2019 (inflation rate), the All Groups CPI increased 5.66 percent (5.66 index points), compared with 3.17 percent over the twelve months to the month of March 2019. It is the highest inflation rate since October 2017 (+6.48 percent), as food prices increased faster amid a stable exchange rate.
