25 Sep COVID-19 Socio-Economic Impact Assessment Report in Benadir Region
The COVID-19 pandemic has no boundaries and presents an extreme threat to the Somali citizens and the world at large. WHO has reported new more infectious strains of COVID-19, around the world and in Africa, with a rise in the number of new cases across the globe. The pandemic has negatively impacted the economy of Somalia, as evidenced by the closure of businesses, movement restrictions and the disruptions of supply chains leading to loss of income for workers.
The COVID-19 Socio-Economic Impact Assessment report is an effort to understand and document the socio-economic effects and impact that the COVID-19 pandemic has on urban households in Benadir. The report shows that the pandemic negatively affected the population’s economic, health and education sectors and vulnerable segments.
